The President of the United States (US), Joe Biden stopped the shipment of weapons to Israel since last week as a measure against the Zionist country's apparent action to attack the city of Rafah in southern Gaza.
Biden has tried to avoid a massive attack by Israel on Rafah where hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have taken refuge there.
The official said that Israeli leaders seem to be approaching the Rafah invasion and that the US is carefully studying the proposed transfer of certain weapons to Israel that will be used later.
Based on other sources, the delivery of the weapon has been delayed for at least two weeks involving Boeing-made Joint Direct Attack Munitions and Small Diameter Bombs.
The delay came as Washington publicly pressured Israel to delay the planned attack on Rafah to take steps to avoid civilian casualties.
Yesterday, the Israeli army captured the main border between Gaza and Egypt in Rafah to cut off an important route to channel aid from outside to the small area.
However, the delay is the first time since the Biden administration has offered full support to Israel in the wake of attacks since October 7 that have killed about 1,200 people and kidnapped 250 victims.
Israel's campaign to destroy Hamas led to a seven-month military offensive that killed 34,789 Palestinians. Most of them are civilians.
The conflict has also left 2.3 million Gazans on the brink of starvation and sparked frenzy of protests by university students in the US and Biden withdrawing support for Israel including the provision of arms.
Israeli officials said that the army did not receive any aid in the supply of weapons and that if they had to fight with their nails, they would still be willing to do so.
