The US and Saudi Arabia in the statement pledged to cooperate in space research and exploration to strengthen diplomatic relations between the allies. Reinforced by reports from NASA and the State Department on Tuesday.

The plan also states the importance of the Artemis Agreement signed by the United States in 2020 and Saudi Arabia in 2022.

According to the State Department, the agreement remains committed to transparent, safe and responsible offshore exploration.

NASA official Bill Nelson signed the agreement on behalf of the United States and Saudi Space Agency CEO Mohammed Bin Saud Al-Tamimi signed on behalf of Saudi Arabia.

In May, Nelson visited Saudi Arabia in a meeting with Saudi government officials and the Space Commission to discuss space cooperation as part of the US and the Saudis.

The government of Saudi Arabia established the Saudi Space Commission in 2018 with the aim of developing the government's capabilities in space and increasing the involvement of the private sector.

The commission is committed to working actively in the development and expansion of the space sector as part of the government's wider Vision 2030 and aims to modernize the Saudi economy and diversify its revenue stream from oil.
