According to the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Tengku Zafrul Aziz said Malaysia is considering joining several international organizations such as the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

He said Malaysia will pursue an independent, principled and pragmatic foreign policy to maintain a balance between development, the national economy and good relations with world trading partners.

The government will use various approaches so that the interests of the country are always upheld.

It is also the main reason why Malaysia is considering joining BRICS and some other organizations such as OECD.

Senator Noraini Idris in her statement in the National Assembly on Monday said this action can contribute to the development of society internationally as well as support the economy in the plan of global relations.

Tengku Zafrul said Malaysia as a trading country will always focus on strengthening economic cooperation with all trading partner countries.

He also said that Malaysia has proven to be an active country in the involvement of various international organizations such as Asean, the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation, the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Among the latest efforts, it is clear that Malaysia's participation in BRICS is in line with efforts to drive the economic agenda for the benefit of the country and the people.

With a strategic and balanced approach, Malaysia can optimize the benefits of participation in BRICS as well as ensure the stability and continuity of trade relations at the global level.
