It was recently reported about an oil spill incident believed to be caused by a marine tanker, MT Terra Nova, which had sunk off the coast of Manila Bay.
The incident killed one of the 17 crew members.
Some fishermen stated that the impact of the incident has affected their source of income and health.
They also reported seeing traces of oil stains and smelling a very unpleasant stench in their waters.
1.5 million liters of industrial fuel went down with the ship off the coast of Limay in Bataan province, west of the Philippine capital.
However, efforts to clean up the oil slick have been carried out by local authorities.
The Philippine coast guard said it had sealed the leak from the overturned tanker and would begin siphoning oil to prevent more fuel from leaking out.
Philippine authorities are investigating the incident in more detail to see if the incident is related to typhoon Gemini which has caused chaos in the Philippines before.
