Iranian officials have stated that only a ceasefire agreement in Gaza will prevent their direct retaliation against Israel for the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh on their soil.

The killing, which took place in Tehran, has heightened tensions, with Iran blaming Israel for the attack.

Although Israel has not confirmed its involvement, the situation has led to an increased military presence in the region, including the deployment of the United States (US) navy.

Iran has made it clear that it will respond to Israel with actions to be taken with its allies such as Hezbollah if the Gaza talks fail or are delayed.

Although Iran remains on high alert, it is still engaged in diplomatic efforts with Western countries to plan its response, aiming to avoid a wider conflict while still seeking retaliation.

The upcoming ceasefire negotiations, which will take place in Egypt or Qatar, are very important.

There are fears that any Iranian retaliation could derail these negotiations.

Meanwhile, Iran's leadership, including its Revolutionary Guards, remains committed to a tough stance against Israel, balancing its regional ambitions with the possible consequences of a full-scale conflict.

In a separate report, the United States on Tuesday reportedly approved a $20 billion arms sale including fighter jets and some other military equipment to Israel.

The sale was approved by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
