The Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina was given 45 minutes by the military to resign and leave the country following increasingly serious demonstration activities.
According to India Today media reports, Hasina who arrived at the Indian air force base in Ghaziabad near New Delhi late on Monday took off on a Bangladesh Air Force plane.
Previously, the former Prime Minister wanted to give a message through a media statement to the people of Bangladesh but was prevented when a few members of the military also rebelled.
Now, the Bangladesh army is divided into two factions, one in favor of Hasina and the other side consisting of junior officers and retired officers.
At the meeting of the National Security Council, the military told Hasina that they will not prevent the protest that the students will do starting Monday.
The demonstration situation began to subside at 9 am and it returned to chaos after thousands of students entered Dhaka from the Gazipur border.
It got worse when news about the military forcing Hasina to leave the country in 45 minutes spread widely on social media.
Also, Bangladeshi army chief General Waker-uz-Zaman announced the army would take over government duties after Hasina fled the country amid violent protests across the country.
Based on Prothom Alo's report, the authorities in Dhaka also closed the Shahjalal International Airport to prevent further riots. - Daily news
