The leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un witnessed the latest weapon test which is a 'suicide' drone capable of destroying a tank.
He also urged the researchers to increase the development of artificial intelligence (AI) of the unmanned weapon vehicle.
According to the KCNA news reference, Kim visited the Drone Institute of North Korea's Academy of Defense Sciences on Saturday and saw the test successfully identify and destroy the designated target precisely.
The North Korean administration is calling for the production of more weapons for use in tactical infantry and special operations units such as underwater suicide attack drones, strategic reconnaissance drones and multi-purpose attack drones.
Mobile weapons are often widely used in the war in Ukraine and also in the Middle East.
Previously, North Korea was linked to the use of nuclear weapons after allegedly having close ties with Russia and Iran in the military.
Seoul, South Korea's Unification Ministry in a statement said this is the first time Pyongyang has created a kamikaze drone.
Previously, North Korea had flown several drones over the border and into the zone of the Seoul President's office before it turned back in 2022.
South Korea has said it will use laser weapons to shoot down North Korean drones if an attack is carried out this year. It will be the world's first use of such a weapon.
