The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim hopes that private companies that record high profits to re-examine the salary scheme to provide more reasonable remuneration to employees.

He also said that the salary reform for civil servants is a message to private companies to raise the salaries of workers so that the cost of living pressure can be reduced.

Anwar emphasized his administration's decision to set a minimum salary for civil servants that exceeds RM2,000 so that companies out there think not to set a salary lower than that.

His speech was after the 19th Public Service Prime Minister's Council (MAPPA) themed 'Civil Public Service' in Putrajaya.

The salary increase of civil servants is to give recognition to them not only for their service but the performance of civil servants should also be improved and improved.

It is done through a radical transformation and a big shift since it involves accountability and the increase involves performance. Not just simply.
