The latest developments regarding the border issue in the South China Sea are seen as further heating up the tension between Malaysia and China.
China has recently warned Malaysia that its oil exploration operations have encroached on permitted boundaries.
China sent a protest note demanding Malaysia to stop exploration operations in areas claimed by China on the grounds of sovereignty over a large part of the South China Sea.
Following that, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim responded to the issue by insisting that the operation was carried out in Malaysian waters without causing any provocation.
PMX is said to be ready to discuss with the Chinese side to explain that the oil exploration operation is important for the survival of the country's economy.
A good response will be given by explaining Malaysia's position and not doing provocative actions.
According to Anwar, Malaysia will still continue exploration operations in the waters to guarantee advantages for the country, but Beijing objects because it feels that the operations carried out have entered their territorial waters.
This does not come as a surprise as China has previously also insisted that almost the entire waters of the South China Sea shared with Malaysia, Brunei, Vietnam, the Philippines and Taiwan are under their sovereignty.
PM Anwar said Malaysia has a firm principle not to invade other countries' territories. If China is not satisfied, Malaysia is ready to face it.
