As of 31 August 2024, the Royal Malaysian Customs Department has collected revenue of RM41.68 billion, marking a significant increase from RM36.13 billion in the same period last year.
This achievement reflects the success of the department's strategy under the leadership of Customs Director General Datuk Anis Rizana Mohd Zainudin.
The department is on track to meet the Finance Ministry's revenue target of RM56 billion for this year.
In the first eight months of 2024, the department successfully solved 5,196 cases, seizing goods worth RM1.25 billion, up 42.47% from last year's RM884.26 million.
Significant seizures included 15 containers with 150.26 million cigarettes, 30 tons of tobacco and 32.5 tons of plastic waste, worth RM118.18 million.
The department has also implemented reforms such as 100% container inspection and introduced the Export Import Support Document System (SDSIE) in Port Klang.
The use of high-tech scanners and narcotics detection dogs has increased operational efficiency and improved border control efforts.
