Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul said Malaysia's goal in increasing investment in its technology export sector is increasing and will not be affected by the US election results.

He further said that the government has built a strong ecosystem around the semiconductor industry and it has become a major part of the highest contribution of exports.

Companies based in Malaysia have not experienced major disruptions in the sector during the last change in US leadership in the previous term.

In addition, Southeast Asian countries including Malaysia are also affected by geopolitical tensions that drive more investment in the region, especially in the trade war between the United States and China.

According to him, foreign investors are flocking to Malaysia again amid the rapidly growing artificial intelligence sector and improving political stability.

The appointment of the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in GE-15 has brought together reform methods and economic plans in improving the country's outlook starting at the end of 2022.

Tech giants including Microsoft Corp, Nvidia Corp and Amazon.com Inc have pledged to invest billions of dollars in the country's infrastructure as Anwar stakes his stance on national non-alignment and a resilient economy to weather any geopolitical storm.

Malaysia is a strategic location for foreign companies to invest because it focuses on five technology sectors such as electrical-electronics, digital economy, chemical-petrochemical, healthcare and aerospace.
