Musk Uses a 'Back Door' for X to Return to Functioning in Brazil?

Elon Musk's social media platform, X (formerly known as Twitter), has managed to continue operating in Brazil despite a recent ban.

The platform was initially blocked on August 31, 2023, due to X's failure to appoint a new legal representative to represent the company in the country, leading to a legal battle with Supreme Court Judge Alexandre de Moraes.

However, the platform was accessible again after X moved its services to servers hosted by Cloudflare.

This move complicates efforts to block apps, as Cloudflare's dynamic IP addresses make it difficult for authorities to target specific users.

Many of these IPs are shared with important services such as banks, making broad blocking tactics impractical.

Brazil's leading Internet Service Provider trade group, ABRINT, explained that the new system allowed X to circumvent the ban and X users in Brazil have reported renewed access.

The country's telecommunications agency, Anatel, and X have yet to comment on the development, and it remains unclear how Brazil will respond to X's settlement.
