In Lebanon, a series of devastating explosions have killed at least 20 people and injured more than 450.

The explosions took place in Hezbollah strongholds such as southern Beirut, the Bekaa Valley and southern Lebanon, and were triggered by wireless communication devices, including walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah.

The explosion followed a deadly incident on Tuesday, when thousands of pagers exploded, killing 12 people and injuring 2,800.

The victims included an eight-year-old girl and an eleven-year-old boy.

Hezbollah blamed Israel for both attacks, but Israel has not commented.

Explosions on Tuesday occurred simultaneously across the country after people received messages they believed were from Hezbollah.

The attack comes amid growing fears of a wider conflict following 11 months of cross-border fighting between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

Following this incident, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced a "new phase in the war," with military resources shifting to the north.

United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres warned of the risk of a significant escalation.

Despite the turmoil, Hezbollah remains committed to supporting Hamas, pledging to continue its actions until the conflict in Gaza ends.
