US stocks were steady on Monday, following significant gains in the Dow and S&P 500 last week.

Both indices hit all-time highs after the Federal Reserve (Fed) implemented an aggressive rate cut of 50 basis points.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.62%, the S&P 500 rose 1.36%, and the Nasdaq Composite rose 1.49%.

The Fed cut its key rate from 5.50% to 5.00%, marking its first rate cut in more than four years.

Governor Christopher Waller supported the rate cut, citing favorable inflation data, while Governor Michelle Bowman expressed concern that it might suggest premature optimism about inflation control.

Looking ahead, investors are focusing on upcoming economic data, particularly PMIs for the US manufacturing and services sectors due to be published today, as well as key speeches from Fed officials including Raphael Bostic, Austan Goolsbee and Neel Kashkari.
