Former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak expressed disappointment with the decision of the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Wednesday.
Lawyer, Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah said the defense was also disappointed with the High Court Judge, Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah's decision as soon as he was ordered to defend himself.
Najib's defense team expressed their disappointment over the decision and they will not give up in giving a defense even if the court's decision is not in their favor.
He also said that the evidence for the defense process will involve the number of witnesses not less than 11 individuals.
However, Najib was ordered to defend himself by the High Court here on Wednesday, four cases of using his position to bribe almost RM2.3 billion of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) funds and 21 charges of money laundering related to the same money.
Judge, Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah ruled this after finding that the prosecution had successfully proved a prima facie case at the end of the prosecution.
Najib was then given three options, first, to testify under oath with the prosecution given the opportunity to question him during cross-examination.
The second option, he can give an unsworn statement from the witness stand without cross-examination by the prosecution while the last option, the former Pekan Member of Parliament can remain silent and not answer the charges.
Najib took the first option, he will give evidence from the witness stand.
