Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has expressed strong support for Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) in obtaining permanent tax exemption.

At MCA's 71st annual general meeting, Zahid, Barisan Nasional chairman and Deputy Prime Minister, supported MCA's request for this exemption, emphasizing the government's commitment to continue helping UTAR.

He envisioned further action beyond the tax cancellation and the recent RM83 million fine for the university.

Zahid's speech highlighted his close relationship with MCA, stressing that he will work with them to ensure UTAR's future remains secure.

His assurance, "brothers will be together," resonated with the audience, symbolizing the bond of brotherhood.

He also expressed openness to discussions on the granting of government matching grants for the Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology.

Zahid's support reflects the broader goal of strengthening educational institutions like UTAR while fostering unity within Barisan Nasional.

His involvement highlights the government's recognition of UTAR's non-profit status and the important role it plays in Malaysia's educational landscape.
