The Malaysian government has increased assistance for the people through several important initiatives.
Rahmah Cash Contribution (STR) and Rahmah Basic Contribution (Sara) now amount to RM13 billion.
Federal Territory general assistance has increased from RM100 per month to RM150, with a limit of RM500 per family.
Low-income families will receive RM250 for each child aged six and below and RM200 for each child aged seven to 18, limited to RM1,000 per family.
Assistance for the elderly increased from RM500 to RM600 per month, while the Social Welfare Department received RM2.9 billion, compared to RM2.4 billion in 2024.
In addition, single individuals will get RM600 each.
This initiative is expected to help ease the financial burden of the people in the face of the rising cost of living.
