The following is a brief summary of the essence of the presentation of Budget 2025 by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Finance Minister which took place in Parliament just now.
Household Cash Contribution (STR) And Rahmah Basic Contribution (SARA)
– RM13 Billion Allocated – Singles will receive STR of RM600.– Low-income families will receive RM250 for children aged six and under and RM200 for children aged seven to 18. – Assistance for the elderly increased from RM500 to RM600 per month.– Beneficiaries SARA will receive RM100 per month.
Minimum Wage Raised
– RM1500 per month will be increased to RM1700 per month. – Effective February 1, 2025
RON95 Petrol Subsidy
- Subsidy targeting will be implemented in the middle of next year with the guarantee that 85% of the people will continue to be able to enjoy the subsidy price.
Civil Servant Assistance
- RM500 will be given to civil servants grade 56 and below including contract appointments. - A total of RM250 to all government retirees whether pensioned or non-pensioned veterans.
Public Service Compensation System (SSPA)
- Under the SSPA, the minimum wage for civil servants is RM2,115 per month which comes into force on 1 December 2024.
Education Sector
– RM15 billion allocated for education, including the enhancement of skills training programs for youth as well as skills enhancement courses for workers through the Skills Enhancement Training Program
Health Sector
– Budget 2025 allocates RM22 billion to improve health services. This includes the development of new hospitals, the upgrading of existing facilities and the purchase of more sophisticated medical equipment.
Public Transport Sector
-RM40 billion is allocated for infrastructure development, including the construction of roads, highways, and public transport projects such as MRT, LRT, and city buses.
