In an effort to strengthen defense cooperation, Russia and China recently held "meaningful" talks, reaffirming their commitment to each other in "unlimited partnership."

The Russian Minister of Defense, Andrei Belousov, emphasized that the two countries have similar thoughts on global issues and the steps that need to be taken.

Belousov met with Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of China's Central Military Commission, in Beijing last Wednesday.

In the meeting, China's Ministry of Defense expressed its desire to deepen military ties and maintain high-level exchanges.

This meeting took place, amid increasing Chinese military activities related to Taiwan, which has provoked strong criticism from Taiwan and the United States (US).

Since the declaration of collaboration between these two countries in February 2022, Russia and China have intensified their cooperation to counter US influence in Asia.

The US has accused China of supporting Russia's military operations in Ukraine by supplying multi-purpose goods including microelectronics that could help Russia develop weapons.

This allegation however has been denied by China.

On August 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that economic relations between Russia and China are on the rise, with trade reaching record levels despite Western sanctions.

Both countries seek to optimize trade structures and expand cooperation in the bilateral and arctic agricultural sectors.

The Russian-Chinese alliance is considered a critical stabilizing element in countering the increasingly dominant Western hegemony, positioning both as forces that cannot be ignored in the global arena.
