Malaysia is gearing up to strengthen economic cooperation and increase regional investment during the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summit, scheduled from 8 to 11 October 2024, in Laos.
Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, shared that Malaysia's main goals for the summit included enhancing regional trade partnerships and addressing pressing challenges faced by ASEAN members.
Ahead of the summit, Zafrul and his team have made preparations through pre-meetings to ensure the important agenda is coordinated smoothly.
The event will see more than 2,000 delegates, including heads of state, ASEAN leaders, dialogue partners, and representatives from various international organizations, gather at the National Convention Center in Vientiane.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to deliver Malaysia's official statement during the summit, which also marks the transition of the ASEAN chairmanship from Laos to Malaysia on October 11.
Malaysia's participation reflects its commitment to drive regional growth and address shared economic challenges within ASEAN.
