For the first time in 22 years, two German Navy ships, FGS Baden-Württemberg and FGS Frankfurt am Main, have docked in Malaysia, as part of the Indo-Pacific Deployment 2024 (IPD24).

They arrived at Port Klang Cruise Terminal and reportedly docked from 15 to 18 October.

This initiative reflects Germany's efforts to enhance security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific, highlighting their commitment to maritime stability.

Dr. Peter Blomeyer, German Ambassador to Malaysia, emphasized the strong economic ties between the two countries.

With over 700 German companies operating in Malaysia, he noted the mutual benefits of this relationship.

Rear Admiral Helge Risch expressed his gratitude for Malaysia's warm welcome and expects increased naval cooperation, marking this as an important moment in German-Malaysian relations.

The ships are set to engage in joint naval exercises with the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN), fostering deeper cooperation.

The visit is proof of Germany's dedication to upholding freedom of navigation and ensuring the safety of the Indo-Pacific shipping route to Europe.

In addition, Germany is strengthening Malaysia's maritime capabilities, providing surveillance drones to the Malaysian Coast Guard and further strengthening this growing partnership.
