Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) is now under close scrutiny after millions of ringgit in pilot training funds were lost due to mismanagement by Skyvax Holdings, an aviation training company based in Shah Alam.
From 2019 to 2022, Skyvax was given the responsibility to manage the RM21 million fund provided by MARA and the students' families for training at the Czech Aviation Training Center (CATC).
However, the company was found to have failed to pay the students' tuition and accommodation fees, causing serious disruption to their training and they were evicted from their accommodation.
MARA eventually had to intervene by transferring the sponsored students to a local aviation school.
Unfortunately, self-funded students are forced to return home without completing their training.
So far, the investigation is ongoing, with many police reports being made by the affected families.
Although MARA has taken legal action against Skyvax, the details of these proceedings remain sketchy.
The director of Skyvax claimed the deteriorating financial situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic as the main cause of this issue, but this excuse did not ease the worries of families caught in financial difficulties.
To date, the directors of the company have not been charged, leaving the affected families in a state of despair as they await justice for the losses and emotional suffering they have endured as a result of this scandal.
