The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, recently announced an additional allocation of RM5.5 million to upgrade the infrastructure at Pasar Siti Khadijah.

This brings the total funding to RM7 million, following the previous approval of RM500,000 in November last year and RM1 million earlier this year for roof repairs, painting and concrete structural repairs.

The additional funds will cover further repairs, including overhaul of the wiring system and other updates needed to improve the overall condition of the market.

Anwar stressed that the market, which has about 1,500 traders and is a major hub for local trade, needs immediate attention.

He has directed the local authorities and the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) of the Prime Minister's Department to closely monitor the progress of the project and ensure its completion without delay, even if tenders are required.

This initiative aims to improve the market for both traders and visitors.
