The year 2025 will be the starting point of big changes for the people of Sarawak, especially university students and low-income families!
In the 2025 Budget that has been presented, Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg, Premier of Sarawak, announced a plan to help 25,000 students who meet the qualifications based on a monthly income of RM1,500 or less.
This initiative aims to help students reduce the cost of food and their daily needs.
In addition, the 2025 Budget also allocates RM32.5 million to continue the initiative of book vouchers and free laptops.
Eligible students will receive a book voucher worth RM500 and over 10,000 students will get a laptop for free.
This will provide Sarawak students with the necessary technological equipment to succeed in the growing world of digital education.
For those in the low-income category, the state government also introduced the Sarawak Basic Needs Contribution Scheme (SKAS).
With annual assistance ranging from RM250 to RM800, more than 850,000 eligible Sarawakians can buy basic necessities such as rice and cooking oil.
This move is expected to provide a great relief to families who are faced with the rising cost of living.
For Sarawak civil servants, they will enjoy increased salaries and special allowances under the civil service reform.
With a focus on more dynamic performance evaluation, the state government wants to shift attention to increasing effectiveness and dedication in the public service.
These changes also aim to have a positive impact on the people, ensuring that every public service is more efficient and responsive.
These initiatives are expected to be fully implemented by mid-2025, giving the people of Sarawak time to feel these changes.
