Amazon is investing heavily in artificial intelligence (AI) by adding another US$4 billion (RM17.87 billion) in startup Anthropic, a major competitor to OpenAI.
The investment makes Amazon's AWS the primary partner in cloud computing and AI training for Anthropic, which will use Amazon's AI chips for its advanced models.
Founded in 2021 by former OpenAI employees, Anthropic has grown rapidly, offering AI tools to the finance and healthcare sectors.
But as competition for modernization and revolution intensifies, the cost of AI development has become increasingly high, with Anthropic's CEO predicting costs could reach US$100 billion in the future.
The investment is a significant step for Amazon in shaping the future of AI, but it has also drawn the attention of authorities who are increasingly tightening their grip on this transformation.
