6 Malaysian companies are now facing sanctions from the United States (US) after being allegedly involved in the Russian manufacturing sector that supports the country's military operations in the Ukraine conflict.
This sanction was announced on October 30, involving Zeolite Mansford Sdn Bhd (Zeolite), Centrina United Sdn Bhd (Centrina), Gyntec Carbon Sdn Bhd (Gyntec), Moralability Industry Sdn Bhd (Morality) and Melix Global Sdn Bhd (Melix Global).
According to a statement from the US State Department, these companies belong to a global network that helps support the Russian military through the export of important goods such as microelectronics and computer numerical control (CNC).
The move is part of sanctions against more than 400 entities and individuals in several third countries, including China, India, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkiye, and the UAE.
The US described this action as 'treason', stressing that it served as a shield for Russia to avoid the sanctions imposed, thereby thwarting US efforts to disrupt the vital supply chain of Russia's defense industry.
Each of the sanctions is based on Executive Order (E.O.) 14024, which authorizes sanctions against entities deemed to be involved in foreign dangerous activities.
The US insists that they will never compromise in preventing third countries from supporting Russia's military economy.
