The US stock market remained quiet on Friday as investors focused on positive weekly results.
All major indexes headed for gains with the Nasdaq Composite leading the way with a 1.56% gain this week.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.98%, while the S&P 500 rose 1.33%.
On Thursday, stocks performed strongly. The Dow rose 1.06%, the S&P 500 rose 0.53%, and the Nasdaq added a slight 0.03%.
Investors shifted their money into cyclical stocks, companies that tend to perform well when the economy is expanding.
Meanwhile, technology stocks, which typically perform better in periods of slower growth, lagged behind.
Two companies stood out after the market closed: Gap jumped 16% on stronger-than-expected earnings and better revenue figures, along with upbeat sales forecasts.
Similarly, Ross Stores saw its shares rise 8% after delivering strong earnings.
