Bubblebee Sdn Bhd, a beverage company owned by famous comedian Shahmira Muhammad or better known as Shuib, was fined RM17,500 after pleading guilty to seven charges related to failure to pay Social Security Organization (PERKESO) contributions.

The court found that the company had failed to make employer and employee contribution payments for one of its employees last year, with an outstanding amount of RM97.80 for the period from October to December 2023.

Shuib, 40, along with his business partner, Koh Choon Guan, 33, pleaded guilty to the charges.

Even so, they are allowed to pay the fine in six installments.

The case dragged on with additional charges after the company failed to comply with a summons under Section 110(1) of the Workers' Social Security Act 1969.

This led to an increase in accusations under Section 110(2) of the same act, which occurred at the Selangor SOCSO office on January 10.

This charge happened at the Selangor PERKESO office at 11 am, 10 January last.

The court also gave a stern warning by ordering a prison sentence of two months if the fine could not be paid according to the ruling given.

If found guilty of all charges, Bubblebee Sdn Bhd could be jailed for up to two years or fined a maximum of RM10,000, or both.
