Johor is getting closer to its mission to become a leading green energy leader as Petronas recently invested RM7.5 billion into the Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC).

This major investment includes a 40-megawatt solar power project, a state-of-the-art plastic recycling plant, a bio-refinery expected to start operating by 2028, as well as a collaboration with LG Chem for the production of Nitrile Butadiene Latex (NBL).

The development of this PIC will be implemented in four phases over 25 years, with the aim of building a strong downstream oil and gas network in Johor.

Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, voiced his confidence that these projects will be able to attract more investment and help Johor achieve the 2030 vision to become a developed state.

Petronas has also completed performance tests for 54 plants in the PIC, marking major progress in the development of this complex.

The Pengerang Integrated Petroleum Complex (PIPC), managed by Johor Petroleum Development Corporation Bhd (JPDC), continues to be a key pillar in Johor's industrial development.

With this investment, Johor is now on a solid footing as a green industry hub in Malaysia, strengthening its economic base and opening up new sustainable growth opportunities.
