Not yet finished with the sensational issue of Fashion Valet, it was the turn of Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad (PHB) to face great criticism when the company's CEO received a bonus of RM210,000, despite only achieving 42% of the set Key Performance Index (KPI).

Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), demanded that the authorities conduct further investigations into this matter, which is seen as defaming the management principles of government-linked companies (GLCs).

PHB's decision to give a bonus equivalent to three months' basic salary to the CEO sparked outrage, especially after revelations that the company had planned to give lavish holiday bonuses to its employees.

This is despite PHB not achieving the set KPIs and not yielding any achievements, which raises questions about the source of the bonus funds.

Ermieyati thinks that the situation at PHB needs to be explained to the public to ensure transparency in running the company.

The company now faces serious reputational risk, amid pressure to ensure fairness and transparency in GLC management.

With the investigation underway, the key question is whether remedial and accountability measures will be taken to prevent abuse of power in the publicly funded organization.

After the massive damage caused by 1MDB and the FashionValet issue, attention now turns to PHB.

Ironically, all these issues involve the government, raising deep questions among the people: Are their efforts and energy all this time just to enable the government to spend money without any responsibility?

The people have the right to demand transparency and accountability in every action taken, so that history does not repeat itself and trust in public institutions can be restored!
