Rafizi Ramli, the Minister of Economy, recently revealed that only four fresh items experienced a price increase of more than 10% between July and June 2024, responding to many complaints in the comments section of the X platform.

Regular papaya rose from RM4.48 to RM5.57 per kilogram, white shrimp from RM36.67 to RM42.29 per kg, Valencia orange from RM1.24 to RM1.43 per seed, and seedless guava from RM9.65 to RM10 .81 per kg.

Despite the increase, Rafizi explained that the country's inflation remained low at 1.6%, a record low in several years.

At the same time, there were 177 items that dropped in price, such as clean chicken which dropped from RM9.62 to RM8.54 per kg, showing a significant price drop in the market.

Despite complaints on social media about inflated prices, he believes the inflation report is accurate, based on authentic price data and closely monitored by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN).

Rafizi emphasized that despite complaints on social media about the rising prices of goods, inflation reports are accurate and not manipulated.

He also warned traders who took advantage, reminding that the price of goods as a whole is still lower than before the Madani Government took over.
