Malaysia aims to transform from "Made In Malaysia" to "Made By Malaysia".
These changes focus on creating more skilled jobs in the country, where Malaysians design and innovate instead of just assembling products.
Rafizi Ramli, Minister of Economy, explained that the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK-13) emphasizes talent development for high-income industries.
The current “Made In Malaysia” model relies on factory assembly, which often pays lower wages.
By moving to “Made By Malaysia,” the aim is to produce local designs and innovations, leading to higher paying opportunities.
However, in order to achieve these goals, a deep discussion of how talent is developed is required.
Rafizi stressed that Malaysia's education system and training programs must prepare workers for industries that focus on creation and innovation.
These sectors require high skills compared to traditional manufacturing or construction jobs.
This shift also aims to meet investor demand for skilled labor while encouraging Malaysians to stay and contribute locally.
Although challenging, Rafizi believes this strategy will position Malaysia as a major player in the global market by emphasizing creativity and high-value output.
