Sultan Nazrin Accepts RM13.7 Million Business Zakat From 10 Corporate Firms

The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah has agreed to receive RM13.7 million in business zakat from ten corporate companies.


The handover ceremony organized by the Perak Council of Islamic Religion and Malay Customs (MAIPk) took place at Istana Perak, Changkat Federal Kuala Lumpur.


Ten corporate companies have each submitted their business zakat to MAIPk with Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad leading the way.


Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad, represented by Group Chief Financial Officer Azizan Abd Aziz, submitted zakat amounting to RM416,000.


Next, Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad handed over RM580,310 represented by Prof Dr Salina Kassim, while Bank Rakyat handed over zakat amounting to RM1.02 million represented by Tunku Datuk Ahmad Burhanuddin Tunku Adnan.


Other submissions include Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad (RM479,802) and Etiqa Takaful company, submitting a combined RM1.4 million.


Maybank Islamic Berhad, represented by Datuk Muzaffar Hisham, submitted zakat of RM857,129.


Plus Malaysia Berhad also handed over RM2 million while Syarikat Takaful Malaysia and Takaful Ikhlas collectively handed over RM122,985.


The zakat submission with the highest amount, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) represented by Datuk Muhamad Nazri Pazil amounting to RM6.3 million.
