The Madani government recently allocated RM3.17 million to 90 non-Muslim places of worship, including 89 temples and a church, as a measure to strengthen unity and justice among the multi-faith community.
The funds are not only provided for maintenance, but also to carry out community programmes such as tuition classes and religious learning that directly benefit the B40 group.
Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development, Datuk Seri R. Ramanan, stressed that this assistance is not just about repairing physical structures but is aimed at empowering the community.
The initiative is part of a larger effort by the Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit (Mitra) which will now fully utilise the funds under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The government also stressed that this assistance is an inclusive measure that rejects allegations of discrimination, reflecting a broader policy of justice.
Ramanan called on the people to focus on unity, not any divisive narrative.
