The government has promised RM1,000 each to 20 vehicle owners who were submerged in water during flash floods in Precinct 11, Putrajaya.
Federal Territories Minister Dr. Zaliha Mustafa announced the financial assistance after inspecting the affected areas following heavy rains yesterday.
Dr. Zaliha expressed her commitment to address the issue while emphasizing immediate action to prevent similar incidents.
She directed the Putrajaya Corporation to implement a flood warning system equipped with sirens to warn residents of potential flooding.
She also urged the Irrigation and Drainage Department to assess and improve local drainage infrastructure to effectively manage the heavy rains.
The flash floods, which were caused by heavy rain for an hour at around 5pm, temporarily rendered several roads impassable.
Immediate action by firefighters, including clearing blocked drains, allowed the floodwaters to recede within 30 minutes.
The minister's swift response and financial assistance reflect the government's commitment to helping residents and reducing future risks.
These measures are aimed at improving disaster preparedness and providing assistance to those affected.
Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant during severe weather conditions as efforts are underway to strengthen Putrajaya's flood management system.
