The Menteri Besar of Johor, Dato’ Onn Hafiz Ghazi, has urged the federal government to channel 20% of state tax revenue back to Johor to ensure that the people of Johor directly benefit from their contributions.

In the Johor State Legislative Assembly sitting on Sunday, Onn Hafiz stressed that this request was made in line with the directives of the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail.

He stressed the need for these funds to be used in implementing more effective development projects in the state.

Although the official request is for 20%, he added that 10% is sufficient.

For now, the Johor State Assembly has approved a budget of RM1.999 billion for 2025, including additional allocations such as RM300,000 for the Johor Youth Council to empower the voices of the youth and RM1.75 million for police and military facilities.

This action is a continuation of the initial proposal of 30%, showing Johor’s determination to secure better resources for its people.
