The Ministry of Defence (Mindef) has allocated RM3 million to implement an academic recognition programme for military personnel, as a result of a strategic collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT).
This step was taken to open up opportunities for military personnel to improve their education standards while serving the country.
The main focus of this programme is work-based learning (WBL), which allows military personnel to master new skills and strengthen their professional capabilities.
Minister of Defence, Khaled Nordin announced that 10 diploma programmes, including culinary arts, hotel management, Islamic education, office technology, and sports and recreation science, have been identified with UiTM, UTHM, and UPNM.
This programme not only recognises their work experience, but also adds value to their academic and career development.
This initiative is expected to empower military personnel with new knowledge and skills, thus preparing them to face future challenges with more confidence and competitiveness.
