Perodua, the Malaysian car brand, is entering the electric vehicle (EV) market with its upcoming eMO-II model.
Starting next year, Perodua plans to produce 500 units of the eMO-II monthly, aiming to make it the most affordable EV.
At the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show 2024, Perodua Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad announced that the eMO-II will be priced between RM50,000 and RM90,000.
One of the efforts being discussed is a strategic charging system. The company envisions chargers placed every 40 to 50 kilometres, including fixed and mobile options.
This ensures convenience and accessibility for consumers.
Zainal stressed Perodua’s dedication to affordability without sacrificing quality, predicting that their EVs will outperform competitors in price without breaking the bank.
Supported by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, Perodua aims to achieve success in the EV field by 2025.
The eMO-II model is the result of Perodua's in-house research, marking a leap in design and features compared to its predecessor.
This innovative move promises a new era for the Malaysian automotive industry.
