Trade relations between Malaysia and South Korea are getting stronger, reaching RM100.6 billion as of November, boosted by the booming electrical and electronics (E&E) sector.
Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, revealed that over 400 South Korean companies have invested in Malaysia, creating over 50,000 job opportunities since 1980.
To further strengthen these bilateral ties, South Korea’s renowned coffee brand, Ediya Coffee, has opened its first branch in Malaysia, located at Elmina Lakeside Mall.
Tengku Zafrul explained in his speech during the opening of Ediya Coffee in Malaysia that it not only offers coffee, but also job opportunities, skills development, and drives the growth of the country’s franchise industry.
Ediya Coffee plans to launch 50 branches next year, with its Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Hafiz Ab Rahim, seeing Malaysia as the brand’s new growth destination.
With a taste of Korea and great economic potential, this collaboration will surely further strengthen the close relationship between Malaysia and South Korea!
