S&P 500, Nasdaq 100 Hit New Record Highs

A strong performance by technology stocks pushed the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite to new highs in early December.


The S&P 500 rose 0.24% and the Nasdaq rose 0.97%, while the Dow Jones slipped 0.29%.


Tech giants Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta and Broadcom saw significant gains, ranging from 1% to more than 3%.


Tesla also stood out, jumping 3.5% after announcing improvements to its “Full Self-Driving” software.


Another company was Super Micro Computer, which jumped 28.7%, following the confirmation of its financial statements.


This week, investors will be watching for important economic updates, especially the US (US) NFP jobs report on Friday, which will provide an indication of the health of the US labor market.


Investors will also be watching speeches from Federal Reserve (Fed) officials for insights into the direction of the economy.


Meanwhile, corporate earnings reports, such as those from Salesforce and Okta, will also be in the spotlight.
