President-elect Donald Trump recently suggested that TikTok could continue to operate in the United States, at least for a while.
Speaking in Phoenix, Arizona, Trump highlighted the platform's important role in his presidential campaign, where its content has garnered billions of views.
Trump's remarks come as TikTok faces the risk of being banned in the US.
A US law passed in April requires its Chinese owner, ByteDance, to sell the app due to national security concerns.
If ByteDance fails to comply, TikTok could be banned on January 19 next year, the day before Trump takes office.
Despite the government's challenges, TikTok has insisted its US operations are secure, explaining that user data is stored on American servers managed by Oracle.
The Justice Department, however, has said that China's control of the app still poses a security risk.
