Johor is set to boost its tourism industry through collaboration with Qatar.

During a recent visit, Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, along with a delegation, explored opportunities to develop world-class tourism projects inspired by Qatar’s success.

The visit was driven by the vision of Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, focusing on developing the state’s potential in tourism.

Onn Hafiz held discussions with Qatar Tourism chairman Saad Ali Al Kharji to explore investment possibilities, hotel development and ways to enhance tourism services.

Qatar has many globally recognised tourist attractions such as the Museum of Islamic Arts and the National Museum of Qatar.

Johor, which has stunning islands, attractive beaches and a rich cultural heritage, hopes to learn from Qatar’s strategy and implement similar initiatives.

The partnership aims to bring in more investors, create job opportunities and make Johor a premier tourism destination.

It is also in line with the state's long-term goal of achieving developed status by 2030.

With strong support from all stakeholders, Johor is confident that this collaboration will position the state as a leading international tourist destination in the future.
