Johor is set to experience a major economic boost as the agreement for the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) is expected to be finalized on Monday.

According to Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, the agreement aims to strengthen trade, attract investment, and create better job opportunities, benefiting not only Johor but the entire country.

The JS-SEZ is expected to boost industries such as halal products and tourism, creating more businesses and job prospects for the people of Johor.

Apart from that, it will also make daily travel between the two regions of Johor and Singapore smoother, benefiting workers and businesses on both sides.

Onn Hafiz also stated that opportunities like this need to be seized, if we are not ready then others will take this opportunity.

The agreement was originally planned to take place on December 9 as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim previously, but was postponed after Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong was infected with Covid-19.
