Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli explained that the delay in the Kulim Hi-Tech Park (KHTP) project in Kedah was due to a state-level land issue, not the federal government.

According to Rafizi, the Kedah government had previously requested a RM195 million loan from the federal government to support the project.

The loan for the project was approved, but the project stalled due to problems with the land that was supposed to be used.

The land provided during the application process had unresolved ownership issues, preventing the purchase process from going smoothly.

Although the Kedah government claimed to have found a new site, Rafizi said the ownership issue was still unresolved.

He warned that the delay would burden taxpayers, as the federal government must pay interest on the borrowed funds.

Rafizi also said that Kedah officials should stop blaming others when problems occur.

He asked them to be responsible and not use his name in political speeches without checking the facts first.
