Proton's export success was led by Egypt, where sales increased 31% year-on-year.
Egypt received 1,748 units, making it the top export destination, followed by Brunei with 1,200 units.
Proton also commenced Completely Knocked Down (CKD) operations where they will assemble vehicles in Egypt to boost future exports.
The Proton Saga remained the brand’s best-selling model, contributing 61% of export sales and selling 72,769 units domestically.
Meanwhile, the Proton S70 became Malaysia’s top C-segment sedan with 19,182 units sold.
Proton aims to build on its success, especially with its SUVs such as the X50 and X70.
