The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has introduced a new initiative to help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia embrace digital technology.
MDEC kicked off the effort in Penang and aims to equip businesses with the tools, knowledge and support they need to thrive in the digital age.
Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo stressed the importance of technology, stating that it plays a key role in improving business efficiency and expanding global reach.
MDEC Chief Executive Officer Anuar Fariz Fadzil said that through digital solutions, SMEs can grow, streamline operations and increase productivity.
As part of this initiative, MDEC has engaged with Penang-based SME associations through its newly opened Northern Zone Office in George Town.
The aim is to identify industry challenges, develop practical solutions and build a strong digital ecosystem.
The programme also encourages discussions to share insights, best practices and foster partnerships that accelerate digital adoption.
To date, RM30.96 million has been given to digital grant recipients in Penang, with 173 companies having achieved Malaysia Digital (MD) status.
