Social media platform giant Meta is facing pressure after its employees criticized the company's decision to end its third-party fact-checking service two weeks before President Donald Trump's inauguration.

The concerns arose shortly after Joel Kaplan, Meta's chief global affairs officer, announced the content policy changes on Workplace.

He said Meta is optimistic that the changes will help them return to their core commitment to freer expression for users.

The decision was made to follow upcoming administration policies.

However, Kaplan said the bridging program will be replaced with an automated system like Community Notes X.

Meta will roll back restrictions on specific topics and focus its enforcement on high-severity and illegal violations while giving users a more personalized approach.

One Meta employee expressed concern that the platform will be vulnerable to the spread of dangerous misinformation.

In addition, Meta just appointed UFC CEO Dana White to its board of directors, who is rumored to have donated $1 million to Donald Trump during his campaign.

John Elkann, CEO of Italian car holding company Exor, has also been named a member of Meta's board.
