MYMBN Bhd was forced to incur a loss of RM2.5 million after the temporary suspension of bird's nest exports to China.

The suspension, which took effect on 25 December 2024 by the Malaysian Veterinary Services Department, was carried out following the spread of the Newcastle Disease (ND) outbreak in the country.

As a result of the suspension, MYMBN will no longer be able to fulfill orders worth RM2.5 million, impacting its supply chain and revenue stream which is heavily dependent on the Chinese market.

However, the company still incurs monthly fixed expenses of around RM92,000, despite not exporting to the country.

As a progressive measure, MYMBN has worked with regulatory bodies to resolve this issue immediately, while exploring alternative markets to reduce its dependence on China.

The company is also optimising its operational flow to ensure smooth inventory management and production without compromising product quality.
