The government's free tolls for the festive season will end in 2024 and will not be continued for the coming year.

According to the Minister of Works, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, this action is in line with the coordination of targeted subsidies and reducing the financial burden on the government.

For the record, the government paid RM38 million to toll companies for the toll exemption implemented in conjunction with Christmas last year.

He also stressed that the government will replace the free tolls with other targeted approaches.

The approach is still under discussion and will be announced later in the near future.

However, he also did not rule out the possibility that the government would want to make toll exemptions in the future, but for now the cabinet has agreed to stop the free tolls during the festive season.
