Canadian President Justin Trudeau, yesterday, officially held a press conference to announce his resignation as Canadian prime minister and leader of the Liberal Party.
However, Trudeau insisted that he would continue to lead the country until an election is held to choose a new Canadian leader.
This has invited various reactions from ordinary citizens and leaders from different countries.
The future President of the United States (US), Donald Trump immediately expressed his opinion through a post on the Truth Social platform, suggesting that the US and Canada join forces, eliminate tariffs and ensure national security.
Trump argued that if the US and Canada join forces, there would be no tariffs, taxes would be reduced, and national security would be guaranteed from threats from Russia and China.
This statement follows Trudeau’s resignation, which is facing increasing political challenges, including tensions with Trump over tariffs.
Trump stated that the idea of Canada becoming the 51st state of the US might be something that Canadians “like,” while criticizing Trudeau for failing to address the trade deficit and political instability.
Certainly, Trump's proposal has added further tension to the already heated political landscape.
